“Expansive Design Thinking” combines co-creation, design thinking, and futures design and provides a powerful approach to innovation that considers the complexities of the real world. This new method generates solutions that are sustainable and equitable. With Expansive Design Thinking, you can take your problem-solving to the next level and continuously work towards a better future for all.
A little extra fun
For this course, we are using the current exhibition “The Future is Present” at the Design Museum Denmark. You are invited to visit the museum before our workshop. If you cannot come to Copenhagen to explore the inspiring exhibition in person, we will give you access to a few digital exhibits you can use to prepare your innovation case.
Our Method
Expansive Design Thinking has been inspired by the Book "Expand - Stretching the Future by Design"
After reading Christian Bason's new book and being influenced by a lot of conversations and workshop sessions, we realized there is a strong demand for a course format that educates about that next evolution of "Design Thinking".
Expansive Design Thinking explores each of the six expansions outlined in the book and how they can be used to address some of today's most pressing challenges.
We created a unique framework of tools and methods which takes our learnings and blends in the secrets of Nordic design to discover a new way of thinking that can help us shape a better future.

Applying design to solve business challenges has become a core skill for anyone who is responsible for (digital) product creation. Decision-makers, leaders and curious minds working as Product Managers, Product Owners, Designers, Strategists or Consultants.
In our fast-moving world we all need to develop a new innovative mindset in order to solve problems using co-creation and expanded design thinking.

Learning how to get into a curious and non-judgmental mindset, revealing relevant insights and framing your innovation challenge in a clear and compelling way.
Tools & Frameworks: Research Context Map & Challenge Framing
Learning techniques for developing an extensive set of innovative ideas. Exploring how to get beyond the obvious, generate fresh new ideas and create inspiring concepts.
Tools & Frameworks: Digital Ethics Compass & Expand Ideation Tool
Learning the value of early-stage testing, explore the many methods of prototyping to bring your ideas to life. We finish the last session with a playful design jam you can add to your own toolkit afterwards.

Meet your facilitator
As an experienced User Experience Designer, Digital Strategist and Workshop Facilitator with 20+ years in the industry, Chris has honed her skills in solving business challenges through design-led methods. She has founded several companies since 2007 to constantly learn and be challenged.
Chris has received her education from renowned creative schools, including IDEO University, Kaospilot, and Hyper Island. With this comprehensive education and extensive experience in the industry, Chris is well-equipped to provide valuable insights and guidance in utilizing Expansive Design Thinking to create sustainable and equitable solutions.
